About

As a young man just out of school, Randy jumped into the business world with both feet as the Owner/Operator of Barnett Excavations and General Contracting in North Dallas, Texas. For more than 10 years, Randy gained extensive construction experience, from initial sitework and lot clearing through project construction and completion. The company also maintained an extensive inventory of equipment including earthmovers and graders which allowed for a wide variety of self-performed projects.

Whether for timber clearing, road and pond work or storage tanks and miscellaneous earthwork, Randy proved his capabilities out of the box completing contracts up to $500,000.  He continued this success whether performing projects for Parks and Recreation or locally owned golf courses and country clubs. In addition, he also constructed many 2,000+ sq.ft. custom single-family homes, varying in price.

In 1991, Randy relocated to the Kansas City area where he was employed with Cherry & Associates, Inc. in Riverside, Missouri. During his 10 years there, Randy served as the Vice President of Field Operations. He was responsible not only for the quality control, materials inventory, and field operations of the company but also for the additional crews required for each project. He simultaneously managed up to five multi-million dollar projects with as many as 25 to 30 jobsite personnel per project.

Acting as a Project Manager in tandem with his responsibilities as Vice President of Field Operations, Randy honed his abilities in dealing with project personnel, from Owners, Architects and Engineers to subcontractors, suppliers and additional vendors associated with his projects. From initial contracting to the hiring and scheduling of project crews, Randy’s unique outlook helped to motivate the associated personnel and keep the project participants focused on the end-game.

Following this experience, Randy again ventured out as Owner/Operator of Barnett Construction in 2001. From managing the day-to-day business operations of the firm to throwing on the hard hat and getting his hands dirty, Randy continues his success with an even wider variety of projects. From commercial to residential, new construction or remodel, interior or exterior, whether for a $2,000 or $15 million project, Randy’s hands-on management approach gives his clients peace-of-mind throughout the duration of their construction project. He is their one-stop source for all of their construction needs.
